National Change Of Address; the method to electronically update your mailing list/s with the information compiled by the USPS of address change information. This compilation is the actual address change data that is inputted by the USPS when a individual, entire household or business moves after they report this information to the USPS via the address change card found at all local post offices. The NCOA process (or other more costly/labor intensive move update methods) is a prerequisite for qualifying for maximum presort discounts (automation discounts). It is also a great method of changing/eliminating mailing pieces that would have been misdirected/returned or destroyed by the USPS. There are two database options available (18 month and 48 month data). Interstate EDP's standard procedure is to utilize the more comprehensive 48 month data to effectively "cleanse" your file/s prior to mailing. As an option, you can also request either a printed report, or an actual file of any records affected by the NCOA process. This would allow you to edit your master files for future reference.
